Payments
Card and ACH, in person, online, over the phone, or on a schedule, connected to the tools you already use.
Powered by NMI. Opal sets your pricing and stays your point of contact.
Ways to accept payment
Visa, Mastercard, Discover, American Express, and bank transfer. ACH costs less than card on large invoices, so we'll tell you which one to steer customers toward and when.
Apple Pay, Google Pay, and contactless. On a terminal, or straight on an iPhone or Android phone with nothing else to buy.
Subscriptions, retainers, payment plans. Automatic Card Updater refreshes expired and reissued cards before the next charge, so a new expiration date doesn't cost you a payment.
Take a payment from any browser for phone orders. Countertop and mobile hardware, managed and updated remotely.
Send a link, an invoice, a QR code, or a text message. You don't need a developer or a checkout page to start.
125+ shopping carts including Shopify, your CRM including GoHighLevel, and your accounting. Transactions sync to QuickBooks and Xero.

Tools that change the number
Business and government cards qualify for lower interchange when the transaction carries extra data: a purchase order number, a tax amount, line-item detail. Most systems never send it, so those transactions downgrade to the expensive category and the penalty shows up as a line item nobody has explained. If you sell B2B, this is usually the largest single thing wrong with your statement.
Two prices at the point of sale, one for cash and one for card, so the processing cost sits on the transaction that created it. There are rules about how it has to be displayed and disclosed, and you need to know them before you switch it on.
Security & disputes
Every transaction runs through real-time risk analysis before it settles. You can tune the rules, so good customers don't get declined for reasons nobody can explain.
3-D Secure through Visa and Mastercard's own protocols, which shifts liability on qualifying online transactions away from you.
When a chargeback comes in, NMI runs the dispute process. The transaction record, the authentication result, and the evidence the gateway captured are already attached, so the response goes out with something behind it.
Total fees divided by total volume is your effective rate, and it's almost never the number you were quoted. We'll show you the real one.
