About Opal
Bailey Rinderknecht, CPA, and Ashley Brough. Woman-owned, based in Utah, and small on purpose.
The story
Bailey runs the numbers, and cleaning up a client's books kept turning up the same thing: another processing statement with fees nobody had explained, and an effective rate above whatever the owner had been told they were paying.
None of those owners were careless. They had been sold a rate on a phone call, signed a contract nobody walked them through, and then never opened a statement again, which is roughly what processing statements are designed to encourage.
Bailey and her sister Ashley started Opal because of it. They wanted a processing company where a CPA sets your pricing and the proposal shows what you'll keep. Sometimes the answer is that your current setup is fine and you should stay put.
The founders

Bailey Rinderknecht is a Certified Public Accountant with a master's in accounting and taxation from Utah State University's Jon M. Huntsman School of Business. Her career has covered firm accounting, fractional CFO work, and tax, and she knows how to read a business's numbers and explain them in plain terms.
At Opal Processing, Bailey reviews the statements business owners send in and builds their pricing proposals. She looks at what a business is paying today, compares it against the alternatives, and shows the owner exactly where the money goes.
She finds where the money goes and tells the owner plainly, even when the answer is that their current setup is fine.
Outside of Opal, Bailey's hobbies are her kids' hobbies. She loves cheering them on at wrestling tournaments, baseball games, and dance recitals.

Ashley brings a relationship-first approach to Opal Processing, focused on helping business owners feel confident in the financial side of their business. With a background in customer success and more than seven years of experience managing complex client relationships, Ashley understands that great service goes far beyond simply answering questions.
At Opal, Ashley works closely with business owners to understand how they operate, identify opportunities to improve their payment processes, and make sure they have the right support as their business grows. She believes in being transparent, responsive, and genuinely invested in the success of every client.
Her approach is simple: listen first, understand the bigger picture, and help business owners make informed financial decisions without the pressure or sales pitch.
Outside of Opal, Ashley enjoys traveling, staying active, and exploring Utah with her dog.
How small
Bailey and Ashley founded Opal together and still run all of it. We'd rather say that up front than let you find out on the third phone call.
It's also why we can tell you to stay with your current processor. Nobody here has a quota, and the people who review your statement are the same people you'll call later.
If you need a processor with a support floor in three time zones, that isn't us and we'll say so early.
Who we are
We built Opal because the businesses we watched get declined, frozen, or overcharged were usually the ones with the least room to push back. Whether a business can take cards often gets decided by a model reading a category code, before anyone looks at the business.
Being woman-owned shapes who we take on and how we price it. Choose us for what we find on your statement. The ownership is a fair thing to know about who you're working with.
Common questions
Underwriting and boarding usually run about a week for a straightforward account, longer for high-risk. Most of that is documentation, and we'll tell you what we need in one list rather than three emails.
One recent monthly statement, all pages, as a PDF. The summary page alone isn't enough, because the fees that matter are in the detail.
Yes. It happens, and saying so costs us a sale and buys a referral.
Some high-risk accounts require a rolling reserve. If yours does, you'll know the amount, the terms, and the release schedule before you sign.
Sometimes. Send us the make and model and we'll check before you buy anything new.
Call (385) 645-8921, email [email protected], or request a call back and we'll ring you.
We'll send it back marked up, and if the rate you're on is already fair we'll tell you that. No cost, no contract.
